I began baking the same way many of us did - standing on a chair in my mom's kitchen, helping her roll-out dough, stir in flour (and of course helping to lick the beaters!) After apprenticing and baking professionally for many years, I started The Dessert Plate in 2001 with the intention of reminding people how wonderful baked goods can taste when they're made with love, and to bring that tradition back to life.
Today The Dessert Plate is a small team of enthusiastic bakers who smile a lot during the day because we love what we do. We are all passionate about baking. We enjoy bringing taste traditions back into people's lives, creating new taste memories.
We love it when a cake for an 80th birthday is greeted with, "This is the best cake I've ever had in my entire life!"
We're proud to hear, "Your chocolate chip cookies are better than my mother's. And she'd kill me if she heard me say that!"
We are always honored to hear newlyweds say, "Not only was our cake beautiful, but everyone ate it because it tasted so good!"
To put it simply, we love to bake, we love baked goods, we love what we do, and you can taste it.
There's just something about home made baked goods. They bring us back to a place of comfort, where a cookie was all you needed to put a smile on your face. We're in the business of making people smile.
